The problem with academia and the man of letters is that he cannot even begin to fathom that anything can extend beyond his dry intellect and limited physical research.

Granted, there is a place for the intellect and physical research, but these are mere tools only and will eventually serve to prove what the full blown jnani has known for eons anyway. The further science advances the further it proves the existence of God.

The yogi, on the other, whether he can write his own name or not, has, through diligent practice, opened the higher mental centers and is able to contact the plane of high intuition, through which flows inspiration and knowledge.

Certainly, there is a place for academia as long as one realizes that it has its limits.
